Marijke Schröer
Marijke Schröer began her saxophone studies at the Conservatory of Groningen with Peter Stam, where she finished her Bachelor with a Cum Laude. For her Master’s degree she went to Amsterdam to join the international renowned saxophone class of Arno Bornkamp. In June 2011 she completed her studies successfully.
As a performer Marijke Schröer’s activites are from an impressive versatility. She premiered several (solo) pieces including the Dutch premiere of Christian Lauba’s Worksong in attendance of the composer himself. Besides Noota she is also a member of Melisma Saxophone Quartet, NootaXL, SaxYOn, Nederlands Saxofoon Octet and Swing Orchestra. In addition she followed master classes with a.o. Christian Lauba, Claude Delangle, Lars Mleklusch and Jean Marie Londeix. In 2013 she received from the foundation 'Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument' a donation, which made it possible to possess her own baritone saxophone. In 2013 she won a donation from the 'Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds' for a bass saxophone. Marijke performed a.o. in Grieg Festival (Norway), Izumi Hall (Japan), World Saxophone Congress (Schotland), Davos Festival (Switzerland), Grachtenfestival (Holland), National Centre for the Performing Arts Beijing (China), De Falla Hall Madrid (Spain) ect.
